Skye Backpackers sits in the picturesque fishing village of Kyleakin, skirted by mountains and sea. A real ‘home away from home’, the hostel is a sanctuary for any weary traveller. Curl up by the open fire with a good book, or in the summer enjoy the hostel’s large garden.

Whatever you’re looking for, hillwalking, sightseeing or the legendary faeries, this island will not disappoint. Our lovely hostel staff can also help arrange bus tours and hiking treks!

Kyleakin is on the main bus route and is also easily accessible by boat or from the train station at Kyle on the mainland. The village offers a shop, café, choice of lively pubs and spectacular scenic views.

The Isle of Skye is situated on the West coast of mainland Scotland, and is the largest and best known of the Inner Hebrides. One of Europe’s most dramatic and haunting lands, words can do little justice to describe Skye’s awesome beauty. The majestic Cuillin Mountains dominate a rugged landscape that is peppered with lochs and tiny fishing villages.

Take some time to explore the island’s haunted castle ruins; feel the mysterious presence of the legendary faeries in tranquil glens, waterfalls and mountain pools; visit whisky distilleries and sample local beers and ales; take a relaxing stroll through the countryside or boldly ascend a mighty mountain.

We can offer you suggestions of what to see and do each day, and we hope that you will leave the Isle of Skye feeling refreshed, exhilarated and peaceful!

The hostel reception is open from 8am-12 noon and then from 5pm-10pm. If you arrive in the afternoon feel free to leave your bags and use the facilities, and then check-in between 5pm-10pm.

We do not accept stag or hen parties.
