Jamie's Picks for this Year's Fringe

As the manager of Castle Rock Hostel, Jamie has seen her fair share of Fringe shows and we thought she’d be the perfect person to ask about some of the things not to miss at this year’s Fringe Festival. Here’s her top 6:

The Thinking Drinkers: Heroes of Hooch – Underbelly, Bristo Square – Cowbarn (Venue 302)

Not just a show, but a fair few drinks as well! The award winning show returns to the Edinburgh Fringe after 8 sell out years for a show that will leave you in stitches and intoxicated. Tickets range from £8 to £13.50, but include 5 free drinks. No better value show in town we think. http://www.underbellyedinburgh.co.uk/whats-on/the-thinking-drinkers-heroes-of-hooch

Trainspotting: Live – The Tunnel (Venue 150 at EICC)

Back for its 5th edition, it’s fair to say this show is nearly as addictive as its subject matter as it has sold out every year since its debut. Best to check it out to see what all the fuss is about. Just don’t sit by the toilet! Tickets: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/trainspotting-live

Shit-faced Shakespeare: MacBeth – McEwan Hall (Underbelly Bristo Square)

The premise is simple, but the results are incredible. First, take a cast of classically trained actors. Then choose one and load them up until they can barely hold it together. Add a full length Shakespeare play to the mix et voila, you have Shit-Faced Shakespeare. The show returns for its 9th year and this year the classic Scottish tale of MacBeth will be reenacted. This is the perfect late night show to finish off your day at the Fringe. https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/shit-faced-shakespeare-macbeth

Daniel Sloss X: Edinburgh Playhouse Auditorium

For 3 nights only Daniel Sloss will grace the stage of the Edinburgh Playhouse for his critically acclaimed show X. Bringing his show back to his Scottish roots, Sloss is definitively one of the top performers to see this year.  Get your tickets here: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/daniel-sloss-x

Micky Bartlett: Buttercup (Underbelly Bristo Square)

Hailing from the Emerald Isle, Micky Bartlett brings his charm and wit to Edinburgh this Fringe and we’re sure you won’t be disappointed. His show is every night at 21:15 from 6 August and is the perfect headliner to round off your evening of laughs. Get your tickets here: https://tickets.edfringe.com/whats-on/micky-bartlett-love-it

Dave Alnwick: Literally the Best Magician – PBH’s Free Fringe @ Voodoo Rooms (Ballroom)

A free show? Now that’s more like it. But believe us, you’ll be clamoring to give him some of your hard earn cash after watching his show. 13 sold out runs means you will have to get there early to guarantee a spot, but the wait will definitely be worth it.
