Pre-Fringe Fiesta: The Top July Events in Scoltand

Get your shades on, slap on some sunscreen and bust out those barely used shorts; because this July is forecast to be a hot one. With a huge selection of food trucks, markets and festivals taking full advantage of the weather; you can expect to have your schedule busy in all the major cities this July. Further afield the weather has also brought out the adventurers, who will be flocking to the Highlands and Isles to experience Scotland in all its beauty. The longest running Jazz and Blues Festival in Scotland returns this year to the cobbled streets of Edinburgh in a multitude of venues across the city. From basement bars to regal lounges, the sounds of jazz and blues will fill the air across Auld Reekie. You can grab yourself tickets and schedules on their website here.

Head to Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis this July and you might find yourself surrounded by all things Celt! With performances from KT Tunstall and Newton Faulkner the musical side is more than covered. The traditional ceilidhs and children’s activities will keep the entire family entertained! Up in Northeast Scotland, in the valley of the River Tay, you’ll find yourself immersed in all things Celtic at Spey Fest. The town of Fochabers will be filled with modern music, ceilidhs, food, drink and more than a bit of Celtic Rock. You can get more info here.

The Isle of Skye gears up for its 2 month festival this July: The Feis an Eilein. There is tonnes to do over the coming months including jazz, comedy, Celtic music, ceilidhs and theatre. Moving to the SWG3 in Glasgow after 5 years at the Drumlarnig Castle, Electric Fields is bringing the same great lineup into the city. Lovingly referred to as “the best music festival in Scotland” (The Skinny); Kelburn returns for its tenth year on the grounds of Kelburn Castle on Scotland’s west coast.
