Hidden Door Weekender 2019
The industrial suburb of Leith has become the centre for creativity in our beautiful city of Edinburgh and this weekend hosts one of the funkiest festivals of the year: Hidden Door.
Hidden Door is a volunteer run, not for profit event that aims to “open up urban spaces as a platform for new and emerging artists, musicians, theatre makers, film makers and poets.” Starting off in 2014 in the Market Street Vaults, the festival has moved from strength to strength (and venue to venue) as they establish themselves as one of Edinburgh’s most diverse and anticipated festivals. This weekend they’re bringing their creative genius to the Leith Theatre for the sixth edition of the festival which will be running from Thursday 30th of May to Sunday 2nd of June.
What’s The Lineup?
Hidden Door is a multi-faceted arts extravaganza and you can expect installations by The Edinburgh College of Art, The Garvald Edinburgh and many more, before peering into the amazing venue that is the Leith Theatre. Some of the highlights of the weekend are Ray BLK (Thursday 30th), Let’s Eat Gramdma (Thursday 30th), The Paradise Palms Takeover (Friday 31st), Crystal Fighters (Saturday 1st) and Cigarettes After Sex (Sunday 2nd). You can check out the full lineup here.
Now down to the brass tax. The Thursday, Saturday and Sunday events will set you back £31.90 (incl booking fee) and the Friday £38.50 (incl booking fee), but there are student and locals discounts available to save you a few quid at the door. You can also buy a full weekend pass for £95 and save yourself nearly £60 on individual tickets. You can grab tickets on their website here.
So make your way down to Leith this weekend to support a truly brilliant festival right here in the capital city!
