The Best Thing On This Weekend
Scotland may be best known for its whisky, but the gin industry is definitely making a renaissance as of late. So trade in that Macallan for something that mixes with tonic at this weekend’s True OriGINS Gin Festival, held at the Biscuit Factory in Leith.
What’s going on?
True OriGINS was founded by brothers Mungo and Guy Finlayson in 2017 and has since grown from strength to strength. Set up to showcase the remarkable variety of Scottish gins, the Aberdeenshire brothers have created a truly brilliant event to show off the 8 True OriGINS regions across the country. They will be taking over the Biscuit Factory to bring this magic to Edinburgh on the 29th and 30th of March and bringing a huge range of Scottish gins with them to make this spectacular event. Definitely one to remember!
What gins will be showcased?
Edinburgh based distilleries Pickerings, Edinburgh Gin and Selkie will be representing the capital this weekend, while connoisseurs can try gins from Lost Loch Spirits (based in Deeside), Eden Mill (from St. Andrews) and Loch Ness Spirits (no prizes for guessing where they are based!). All in all there will be over 70 gins at the festival and not one of them will be from anywhere but Bonnie Scotland.
What do I get for my ticket?
The festival is more than just a collection of well stocked bars; with your ticket getting you a free tasting glass, a gin explorer bible and access to a FREE masterclass from producers and distillers plus much more. There will be food provided to the eager crowds by the delicious Barnacle and Bones and Pizza Geeks so you won’t leave hungry.
Where to get tickets
You can grab tickets on the True OriGINS website here and they’ll only cost you a very fair £12.50. So get yourself down to Leith this weekend to experience the best of Scottish Gin!
