Yule Fest Leith

Leith, 5th November – 5th January

Princes St Gardens, 17th November – 5th January

Can you smell the mulled wine? Edinburgh’s traditional Christmas markets begin next weekend, transforming the city into a magical, romantic winter wonderland. With rides,  shopping, food, arts and crafts stalls and bars, it’s bound to get you into the Christmas spirit.

Light Night

George St, 18th November

Join the crowds as Edinburgh lights up George Street with a fireworks display. Choirs from across Scotland will perform in front of an expected audience of around 20,000 people, and there’ll be a performance by Saskia Eng from The Voice. The Christmas Tree on the Mound, a gift to the City of Edinburgh Council from Hordaland County Council in Norway, will also be lit as part of the Light Night switch-on.

Book Week Scotland

Scotland, 19th – 25th November 

Book Week Scotland is a week-long celebration of books and reading that takes place every November. Events include book clubs, storytelling, craft workshops, cheese and wine reading groups and conversations with authors. Writers to see include Juno Dawson, Iain MacDonald and Stuart MacBride.

Christmas at the Botanics

Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh, 23rd November – 29th December

Edinburgh’s most beautiful gardens come alight with over one million twinkling lights. Follow the trail through the Botanics every night to spot larger-than-life incandescent flowers, illuminated tree sculptures, a scented fire garden and of course, Santa. Sip on spiced cider, mulled wine or hot chocolate and eat roasted chestnuts. You can even toast your own marshmallows on a fire pit. All profits from this event go to plant research and conservation work.

Foodies Festival Christmas

Edinburgh International Conference Centre, 23rd – 25th November

Foodies Festival is bringing the flavours of Christmas to Edinburgh this month, with some of the UK’s top chefs coming together to cook, eat and talk all things food. From bake-offs to champagne tastings and Christmas canape workshops, this is a foodie’s paradise. Tickets start at £10.
